Today I was blessed to spend some time via telephone with my General Superintendent Bro Kenneth Haney.....
Our talks led us down a myriad of paths and I was blessed and even honored by his taking time to call....
He referenced several times I Cor 11:16 several times and got me to thinking...
We have no such custom in the church.....
Consider for yourselves; is it proper and decent [according to your customs] for a woman to offer prayer to God [publicly] with her head uncovered? Does not the native sense of propriety (experience, common sense, reason) itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is a dishonor [humiliating and degrading] But if a woman has long hair, it is her ornament and glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering. Now if anyone is disposed to be argumentative and contentious about this, we hold to and recognize no other custom [in worship] than this, nor do the churches of God generally. 1 Cor 11:13-16 AMP
I am thankful for the reassurance Bro Haney offered on the subject of hair on both men and women....
As an Apostolic pastor I have long held to the teaching the a woman should have long uncut hair and a man should have trimmed hair....
Let me send a clear message out to the CUPC family.....
Gentlemen we must maintain good clean haircuts and to be involved in leadership on the stage we must be clean shaven....
That goes for you boys trying to grow some chin whiskers.....
We have no such custom as long or shaggy hair and facial hair in the church....
We have no such custom....
Ladies....
Long hair means uncut hair, untrimmed hair, unbobbed hair.....
Long is long....
We in Conroe have no such custom such as cut hair or trimmed hair...
To be in leadership or on the stage we have no such custom as highlighted or colored hair.....
No such custom.....
Now I know that some will respond negatively but Wed night I am going to discuss this verse....
No such custom.....
Blessings...

Bro. Smith, with all due respect it is your privilege to standardize your stage. However, to propagate that this is God's word leaves u no credibility. Firstly, this passage is dealing with a specific question to a specific culture; none of which we are privy to. We are missing 2 more Corinthian letters including those of which were directed to Paul by the elders. Biblical scholars can not understand this text because it does not reconcile even with Paul's own teaching and Judaic customs. Leaving them to surmise these texts may be part of the questions and not answers. In ancient greek, there isn't any quotation marks.
For example; Jewish men do cover their head when they pray, they have for centuries. So, how could it be a shame? Even Jesus himself would have covered his head; Prayer shawls, skull caps, and if none are available, they will use their hands. Jewish women did cut their hair; after taking the Nazarite vow, they were commanded to cut their hair and leave it at the steps of the temple. Jewish men did have long hair, including Paul himself who took the Nazarite vow in Acts and cut his hair.
These are just a few of the inconsistencies associated with your interpretation. Finally, in the mouth of two or three witnesses, let every word be established. The hair doctrine is not mentioned in any other of Paul's letters, neither in any other portion of Old & New Testaments. If any thing, the UPCI's interpretation violates God's word. God bless.
Thanks anonymous for this note....
I would suggest that if there was a canonization that missed some other letters to Corinth then we cannot spend energy reckoning what we missed and therefore saying the two Corinthian letters we do have are somehow neutralized.....
However I do appreciate you taking time to visit and point out the inconsistencies of myself and the UPC....
The hair issue is a non-negotiable....
Blessings
Merriam Webster just called, they are going to need some of those periods back.....
Please stop the senseless abuse of punctuation marks. There are only so many, and we all have to share!
Anonymous references lost letters to validate his invalidation of NT doctrine while hoping to twist words....ha
Blarney.........
I think slow and the little dot things are simply my simple mind processing the next half sentence....
K nonymoud....
You were a member of a United Pentecostal Church for many years more specifically CLC in Stockton.....
If you did not receive these things then you will not receive them now...
However Paul's reference to customs here in the hair issue was directly linked to the word "contentious"...
My friend I will not argue or debate with someone I do not know and who was a long time member of the UPCI....
BTW, do I know you?
Blessings....rks
Bro. Smith, I appreciate your stance on these issues. I don't know you, but have come across your latest blog post and read it with great interest. Wow. I am actually surprised (and saddened) that there may be some in UPCI that don't agree with women not cutting their hair.
Little off topic here...
but I love your (rks) periods comment...
Thinking slow...
Made me laugh out loud...
It's good to laugh...
even when we disagree...
Annonymous if you care to email me I would be happy to communicate a recent study
Pastor,
Whatever other say, whether they agree or disagree, I stand steadfast behind you... Love you!
